Women's Housing
The Vida Nueva program is a Shelter Plus funded permanent housing program which is designed to provide safe, affordable housing for single women, as well as their children, who are in early recovery from substance abuse. The women are able to live in secure and sanitary apartments in a supportive, recovery community which is drug and alcohol free. The program provides a balance between structured activities and the freedom to make a stable transition to self-reliance and self-responsibility with eventual return to the community. Clients are case managed. The case managers assist qualified individuals in applying for family assistance benefits where applicable, medical assistance, family and individual counseling, and in the furtherance of career goals. The Vida Nueva environment encourages participants to learn new behaviors, participate in parenting classes, learn living and self-care skills, and to take risks and responsibilities in all areas of their lives. The clients learn to make decisions which are in their own best interest and that of their children, and to take responsibility for those decisions. This program provides 22 transitional apartments for recovering women and their children. Vida Nueva is a safe environment offering case management services and peer support. This program serves more that 60 women and children each year.

Transitional Services
The Transitional Program allows a client who has completed a residential treatment program to further strengthen a recovery program while beginning employment and assuming greater responsibility for self. The client continues to reside in a safe, clean and sober environment while participating in group and individual sessions scheduled to accommodate employment. An integral part of transition treatment is developing a strong network of greater community support for recovery including 12-Steps Programs. Upon completion, a client is prepared to re-enter society with a firm foundation for continued success.
